These is my words

Our book for September is These is my words by Nancy Turner. This is a journal-style piece about a pioneer woman named Sarah Agnes Prine. There aren't a lot of copies in the library consortium and there are quite a few holds, so if you can, place the hold on the Nampa one, then the library is more likely to buy another copy and pass your copies around. We meet at Ann's in her home in Boise, and she has a pool ... :-) Directions forthcoming.

Book Club Tonight!

See you at 7:00 at my house tonight to disscuss Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. A good time will be had by all! I am preparing some yummy things to eat (mushroom cloud shaped cookies, anyone?), so come with an appetite!
Oh, and if you didn't read the book, then come anyway. Who cares. :)
Love, Sara.

August Book Club-Sara's House!

It's official! Book club will be at my house in August. I'm excited, this will be my first time hosting book club, so if nobody comes I will probably cry and go into a deep depression...:)

The book is Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. It's "The classic apocalyptic novel that stunned the world". The cover may or may not look like the one above, it was published in 1959 and has had a few different looks over the years. I have a copy and there are several at the library. Be sure to read it! It will really make you think.

My sister's keeper

Book for July is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Wendy (and others) have copies if you need one. Plan on Wendy's, July 9th, 7 p.m.

A gentle caution: Picoult is a strong writer, with a love of strong words, including some offensive language. If you are uncomfortable reading this, stop -- come to book club in July anyway. We'll fill you in on the plot and you can eat the lovely treats Wendy always makes.
