November

Hi there ladies.

We currently do not have anyone signed up to host bookclub for November. Would anyone like to volunteer? The November meeting is also when we pick which month to host next year.

For those of you who could not make it tonight, we missed you and hope to see you next month.

Sooo......who would like to volunteer? There was some talk of Sara hosting with a parenting book, Natalie was going to but the book has 200+ holds on it and she won't be able to attend in November, and mention of a pamphlet written by so called 'educators'. Please let the rest of us now ladies.

Hope you have a wonderful evening/day depending on when you're reading this.

It's Time To Get Together!

Hi ladies!

Hope you have enjoyed reading this months book 'Just One Look'! I read it again and loved it even more.

So come to my house on Thursday evening to enjoy some great company, great discussions, and great munchies!! Also please bring a photo from your past, you can be in it or not (might be easier if you were), you'll find out why later :) Also if you have a discussion question with you that would be awesome too.

I'm excited to see all your smiling faces on Thursday!

Have a FANTASTIC day!

Book For October

The book for October is 'Just One Look' by Harlan Coben

This is a mystery/thriller and it is AWESOME!!  I thought it would be appropriate this time of year *wink*  I don't like reading the inside cover of these types of books because sometimes it gives away the story. So...the premise of the story is Grace Lawson's life turns upside down because of a mysterious picture.  If you like the kind of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, you won't be disappointed. I chose this book because the mystery was FANTASTIC and I was not bombarded by sex and language.

Here are a couple of book reviews about it
"Harlan Coben is the modern master of the hook-and-twist - luring you in on the first page...only to shock you on the last."  Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol

"The author doesn't build suspense. He opens fire." Daily News (New York)

There are plenty of copies at the library so no one should have an excuse not to get your hands on one.  I have two copies with me, so let me know if you need a copy.

Happy Reading!  :)
P.S. it is not a scary book (someone asked the question)

Sept. Book Club

The book for this month is "Talk to the Hand: The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today, or, Six Good Reasons to Stay Home and Bolt the Door" by Lynne Truss. As the title suggests, it's about manners, but not in a "do this, don't do that" sense. It's more of a commentary on society and the state of good behavior. I make it sound incredibly boring, but it is actually hilarious and very British. :)

There are quite a few copies available from the library, although I checked out the two from Nampa, so you'll have to put one on hold unless you want to go to Boise. It's a fairly quick read (barely 200 pages). There is one swear in the very front of the book, but if you skip right to page one, you'll be in the clear.

August-Way to Be! by Gordon B. Hinckley

Just the other day I was talking with a friend about one of our mutual friends; who had just had twins. We were talking about how wonderful it was to be a mother, but how crazy life must be for our friend with TWO babies to tend to. My friend said, "I doubt she has a chance to just BE!" I had already picked our book club book Way To Be by Gordon B. Hinckley, but my friend summed up my thoughts in three words, "To Just Be."

While reading our book club book, I want you to think about a few things.

If you had just a moment, what would you do to "Just Be?"

What do you want to BEcome? A BEtter mother, friend, sister, daughter, coworker, neighbor?

This book should be an easy read that can be picked up for a moment, go change a diaper, eat lunch, put children down for nap, and pick up to read the next chapter. It is a complilation of 9 essential qualities to possess to live a more full, productive, happy life.

I hope you enjoy it just as much as I have. For the last year, this book has been the theme for our Family Nights and can be read and read again.
